Blocking and privacy settings

How to block someone and limit requests, DMs, calls, and group adds

1 min readUpdated for the current Astral app

Block

On a profile choose Block. They cannot send you a friend request or DM you. The list is User Settings → Blocked Users. From there: Unblock, View Profile, copy AstralTag, copy user ID.

A block does not remove them from shared communities and does not hide your old messages there.

Who can write and call

User Settings → Privacy Dashboard

Connections

  • Who can send friend requests: Everyone / Friends of Friends / Community Members.
  • Allow direct messages from community members is the default for *new* communities. For ones you already joined, Astral asks: allow all, block all, or skip. Per community: right-click the name → Privacy Settings.
  • Hide last online time — when you are offline, others only see that you were online recently.

Communication

  • Incoming calls: Nobody / Friends Only (recommended) / Friends + Custom / Everyone.
  • If calls are not fully off: Receive calls without sound — non-friends already stay silent.
  • Who can add you to groups: the same four levels. Someone can still send a group invite link by hand.

Data export and deletion: Exporting your account data, Requesting data deletion.
