Notifications and sounds

Pushes, the unread badge, event sounds, and quiet-by-default

1 min readUpdated for the current Astral app

Astral stays quiet by default: new communities and groups do not ring until you turn sound on. A red badge appears only when something real happened.

Where to configure

  • User Settings → Notifications — system, push, sounds.
  • Right-click a community → Notification Settings — rules for that space.
  • On Android, system notifications for the app must be allowed.

What you can turn on

  • Desktop / Android / Web Push banners.
  • An unread badge on the icon.
  • While you are on desktop, mobile pushes wait 1–10 minutes of inactivity (default 10).

Per-sound toggles: new message, mute / unmute, voice join / leave, incoming call, camera, screen share. You can mute every sound at once. Custom files (MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC, FLAC, Opus, WebM, max 2 MB) are a Plutonium perk.

Telegram

If the account is linked to Telegram, you can forward DMs, mentions, calls, friend requests, and billing alerts there. A master pause stops them without unlinking. See Account linking and music.

There are no “we miss you” marketing pushes.
